The Suffregettes

Who and what were the Suffragettes? I was recently surprised by a friend asking, what was a suffragette. They were first and foremost our great-grandmothers. These were the women of the late 19th and early 20th century, who fought for the right to vote. All the women of today owe these women a great deal of gratitude. These women were beaten and terrorized in their fight. I personally feel we owe them more than a footnote in a history book.

The first image of suffragette I ever remember seeing was from Mary Poppins

They were amazing women, who deserve our respect. Remember when voting Tuesday, we did npt always have this right. Honor these women, and vote.

If you are interested in learning more about them, check out.

The Real Annabelle

There is a new movie out recently about a demon possessed doll named Annabelle. It's based on a true story of an investigation done by the Warren's. It is said that this Raggedy-Ann doll, named Annabelle, has moved, left strange written messages, and caused physical harm to people. After being relocated to the Warren Occult museum, it even caused the death of a young man who taunted the doll. Annabelle is locked in a glass box, but it’s said that it still moves and growls at visitors.

Dita Von Teese

Happy Birthday Dita!

Dita is old fashioned glamour. She is a what most would think of when thinking of silver screen or a femme fatale.  She is mainstream burlesque. She wasn't the first or only one to help bring back this once dying art form. But she is the most iconic of all modern burlesque dancers.

But she is more than that. She has helped bring back the art if being a lady. An art form if ever there was one. For those of us in love with vintage glamor, burlesque and the art of being amazing she is an icon.

Maleficent release date Nov. 4th!

It's official! Maleficent is now available for pre-order. The release date is November 4th.

I fell in love with this movie. I am not a big fan of Angelina Jolie. But her portrayal was superb, and she was perfect for this role. If you are a lover of fairytales, fairies, and/or Disney. This is going to be a must for your movie collection.

It's available for pre-order at

Little Mermaid Statue turns 100

Happy birthday l00 little mermaid.
One of Denmark's most famous spots turns 100. Sitting on the harbor of Langelinie promenade. Finished and unveiled on August 23, 1913, she looks sad and as if she waiting for someone she knows may never return to her. It truly fits the original Little Mermaid story. As original story did not have the happy Disney ending we have all grown accustomed to. It ended sadly for Hans Christian's mermaid. She lost all and died of a broken heart. I though would like to think that this mermaid will find her happy ending.

For those lucky enough to be able to see this beauty:

The Wem Fire Apparition, 1995

This famous photo of a young girl looking out from a raging fire was taken during a 1995 structure fire at Wem town hall in Shropshire, England. Shot from across the street by a local photographer, nothing unusual was seen at the time but once the negative was developed he noticed what appeared to be a young girl standing in the doorway of the burning building. Firemen found the photo so disturbing that they sifted through the ashes afterwards searching for the remains of a body but found nothing, leaving everyone wondering who the girl may have been. Not surprisingly, there is a bit of local folklore which claims that a young girl named Jane Churm accidentally burned the town hall to the ground in 1677 when she dropped a candle…
